Mining Sector Support for #KillBillC69

Mining Industry Suits and Boots Against Bill C-69

The Government of Canada has recently introduced legislation that we feel is a threat to the mining sector in Canada and our resource industries across the country.

The Impact Assessment Act (Bill C-69) introduces a new regulatory regime that adds additional layers of red tape, allows the Minister of Environment and Climate Change sweeping powers to delay or cancel important infrastructure projects, and introduces elements in assessment procedures that appear to further a political agenda, rather than being based on science or economic development facts.

We, whose names are below, are investors, builders and operators in the mining sector. We are concerned that this proposed legislation is detrimental to attracting capital and talent to our industries. Bill C-69 must be defeated in the Senate. We strongly support the #KillBillC69 initiative launched by Suits and Boots (www.suitsandboots.ca), and encourage others in our industry to do the same.
