Suits and Boots’ BC Resource Tour will visit Okanagan communities next week to gather input about their resource economies.
Suits & Boots will host gatherings like these across B.C through early September to ensure the voices of communities throughout B.C. are heard and considered whenever resource development decisions are made. See details below.
The organization aims to support and highlight responsible resource development, and the important role it plays in supporting B.C.’s economy and therefore the services taxes support, such as healthcare and education.
Led by former BC Liberal MLA Lorne Mayencourt, volunteers from Suits and Boots will be meeting with resource sector workers, families and stakeholders of the forestry, fisheries, mining, natural gas, and LNG sectors in each community.
“We will be seeking out the opinions of local elected officials, resource industry workers, and others interested in how we can advance the interests of B.C.’s resource sector,” Mayencourt said. “Our job will be to take that insight home and put together a solid plan to help communities get their perspectives heard and understood widely.”
“This work will help us build a strong base and a network that we can use to continue our fight against the snake pit of foreign-funded groups that are trying to choke off our resource industry in Canada,” added Rick Peterson, an Edmonton businessman, 2017 Conservative Party of Canada leadership candidate, and founder of Suits and Boots, a national not-for-profit of investment industry professionals who support the resource sector. “Our initial outreach calls to people in these areas was exceptionally strong, so we’re excited to get out on the road.”

Suits and Boots launched in April of 2018. On May 26 the group held a rally in Langley, BC, in support of Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain Pipeline and worked with four other resource groups to coordinate pro-resource rallies simultaneously in Fort St. John, Kitimat, Smithers and Fort Nelson. The joint coordination of these five events resulted in what has been the single largest show of support for the resource sector to date in Canada.
